The Blora Regency Government launched a school bus service yesterday, with the initial route being Blora–Kunduran.

This program is also expected to reduce the risk of accidents for students who dare to ride motorbikes even though they are not old enough.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman said the service is a form of the local government's commitment to providing safe and affordable access to education.

"This school bus is not just a fleet of vehicles, but a form of public service whose benefits can be directly felt by the community," he said at the launch in the courtyard of the Blora Regent's Office.

According to Arief, transportation remains a challenge for some students. The distance from home to school and limited public transportation means some students must find alternative ways to travel.

"We hope this service can ease the burden on parents and support the smooth transition of children to school," he said.

The Regent also emphasized the importance of safety during travel. Vehicles must be roadworthy, drivers must be competent, and operational schedules must be strictly adhered to.

"Safety must be a top priority. Services aimed at helping students must not neglect safety," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Blora Housing, Settlement and Transportation Agency (Dinrumkimhub), Pujiariyanto, through Sunyoto, Head of the Traffic and Road Transportation (LLAJ) Division of the Blora Dinrumkimhub, explained that the free school bus was also aimed at reducing the use of private vehicles by students who did not meet the driving requirements.

"With this free school bus, we hope more students will take advantage of this safe form of transportation, especially those under the age of majority and without a driver's license," explained Sunyoto.

In addition to prioritizing safety, this program is expected to help families save on daily expenses.

Transportation costs that parents usually have to prepare can be diverted to meet other educational needs.

"This service is expected to make it easier for students to access school, including those from families who need transportation support," he added. (Endah/ IST )
