INFOKU, BLORA –Blora Regency is one of the regions trusted to carry out a pilot project for serving Free Nutritious Meal Menus (MBG) in a buffet style.
The implementation of the trial was directly monitored by the Regent of Blora, Arief Rohman, together with the Deputy Regent of Blora, Sri Setyorini, at SDN 5 Ngawen, Monday (5/10/2026).
In the MBG buffet-style system, meals are served in the school hall. Students then choose their own meals according to their individual needs and portions.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman said that Blora Regency was one of 42 regions in Indonesia that had the opportunity to carry out a trial of serving MBG as a buffet.
"Alhamdulillah, out of 42 regions across Indonesia, Blora Regency has received a pilot project for the MBG Menu, which is served buffet-style. The food is served in the school hall, and children can choose their own menu," said the Regent.
According to him, the buffet-style meal plan received a positive response from the students. The children appeared happier and more enthusiastic because they could help themselves to the portions they desired.

"I've seen children feel happier and more enthusiastic about buffet-style meals than when they're served directly. They can help themselves to their own portions, so they can finish quickly and avoid leaving much leftover," he explained.
The Regent added that if the trial runs well and produces positive results, the MBG buffet-style serving pattern will be considered for continuation.
"If this is good, of course we will continue," he stressed.
Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Blora Sri Setyorini, who is also the Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of the Implementation of the MBG Program in Blora Regency, explained that the implementation of this buffet system is part of the evaluation and an effort to improve the quality of the implementation of the MBG program.
According to him, previously there were a number of reports from the public regarding excessive food portions and students experiencing health problems.
Following up on this, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) assigned the task of conducting a trial of the MBG buffet-style serving pattern in a number of schools, one of which was SDN 5 Ngawen.
"Due to numerous reports from the public about excessive food portions and students experiencing food poisoning, the National Education Agency (BGN) assigned me to conduct a trial at schools, including SDN 5 Ngawen. If the buffet is successful within two weeks, it can be expanded to schools throughout Blora Regency and even become a model for implementation across Indonesia," explained the Deputy Regent.
He hopes that implementing a buffet system can be a solution to reduce food waste, while also providing students with the opportunity to adjust food portions to their individual needs.
Monitor Trial
Meanwhile, the Regional Coordinator (Korwil) of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of Blora Regency, Artika Diannita, said that the appointment of SDN 5 Ngawen as the location for the pilot project was based on an official note from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
"This pilot project for the buffet-style MBG program aligns with a memorandum from the Deputy for Governance and System Management. Based on Memorandum No. 43, dated September 30, 2026, 42 SPPGs across Indonesia are implementing the buffet-style MBG program," Artika explained.
Artika added that during the trial, his party would monitor and record the results of the implementation in the field.
The results will then be reported to BGN as evaluation material.
"We will report the results of field implementation to the National Land Agency (BGN). Furthermore, regarding the sustainability of the program, whether it will be continued or whether there will be further evaluation and policy decisions, will be the responsibility of the BGN," he explained.
The implementation of the trial is expected to provide an overview of the effectiveness of the buffet system in organizing MBG, especially regarding the appropriateness of portions, the level of food consumption by students, and reducing leftover food.
The results of the evaluation during the subsequent trial period will be used by the National Land Agency (BGN) to determine the sustainability of the MBG system, both in Blora Regency and more broadly. (Setyorini/KOM)
