INFOKU, BLORA -A statement emerged from the Community Concerned with Education and Children (MPPA) to immediately carry out an evaluation of the implementation of the free nutritious meal program (MBG) in schools.
It is considered that fulfilling children's nutritional needs should not interfere with the primary function of schools as places of learning and education.
MPPA Coordinator Agus Ariyanto told the press that schools must remain safe, comfortable, and conducive educational spaces.
"We support meeting children's nutritional needs. However, this should not interfere with their right to a peaceful, safe, and comfortable education," Agus said.
This statement was made after the poisoning case of 216 students at SPPG Sukorejo 2, Tunjungan District, which resulted in its permanent closure.
The MPPA asked the Blora Regency Government to evaluate the implementation of the MBG, including the distribution mechanism and food safety supervision.
If the implementation of the program disrupts the teaching and learning process, the government is asked to consider alternative mechanisms.
Agus said several options could be explored, such as distributing food directly to beneficiaries' homes or providing assistance to the elderly based on valid and verified data.
"Child nutrition is important, and so is education. Fulfill children's nutritional needs without compromising their education," he stressed. (Endah/ IST )
