During the visit, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education saw firsthand the condition of the classrooms, the ceilings of which were badly damaged.

As a result, teaching and learning activities in the classroom were moved to another room.

Expert Staff for Talent Management at the Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Mariman Darto, who is also an alumnus of the school, said that the damaged classroom was an old building that had been there since the early 1980s.

"This was built in 1983 and was occupied, perhaps in 1981 or 1982. Of course, if it collapses like this, it's dangerous, and because it's old, I'm asking for it to be repaired," he said.

Apart from the old buildings, he also asked the school to check classrooms or other buildings that were worthy of repair.

"Before any renovations, all classrooms should be inspected, lest they be occupied and then collapse like this. And this potential also applies to other classrooms," he explained.

He explained that the educational unit revitalization program is one of the government's national strategic programs (PSN), which focuses on assistance in improving educational facilities and infrastructure through rehabilitation, construction and provision of facilities and infrastructure for educational units.

"Of course, we have only one hope: it's impossible to have a quality school, or quality education, if the facilities and infrastructure are not good," he said.

SMPN 1 Sambong, he said, is the only state junior high school in Sambong sub-district.

So that with the educational unit revitalization program provided, it will foster a sense of comfort and security in the school environment.

"We hope there will be no more violence in schools. This is also an important point. Building character is also important because it is one of the characteristics of the national Adiwiyata program," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Acting Principal of SMPN 1 Sambong, Wiwik Sulistiyowati, explained that the classroom ceiling was damaged on December 15, 2025.

So that teaching and learning activities in that classroom were moved to another classroom.

"They've moved to the next room. We're sacrificing the next room for a laboratory. If there's space, we'll use it for that. Luckily, there's a lobby here too. Basically, the kids are moving around," he explained.

For this reason, they hope to receive immediate assistance to revitalize the damaged school building.

"So we hope this will be fixed soon," he asked.
