Wooow ..... Coconut Prices at Blora Traditional Market Soar, Reaching IDR 35,000.00/Fruit

INFOKU, BLORA -Ahead of the 2025 Ketupat Eid tradition (bodo kupat), the price of coconuts at the Sido Makmur traditional market in Blora District, Blora Regency has soared. 

For large coconuts (optional) it reaches Rp. 35,000.00/fruit.

"Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the price of coconuts will change," said Gunarti, a coconut seller at the Sido Makmur Blora traditional market, Friday (4/4/2025).

He said the increase in coconut prices occurred ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri until now entering the Ketupat Eid tradition which is celebrated on D+7 of Eid al-Fitr.

"Now the price of a medium-sized coconut is IDR 25,000.00 and a large or selected size is IDR 35,000.00/fruit," he said.

He said that sellers get their coconut supplies from outside Blora Regency, such as from Bali, Ciamis and Kebumen.

Another coconut seller, Siti Zulaeha, said the same thing.

According to him, the increase in coconut prices usually occurs before Eid al-Fitr and the Ketupat Lebaran tradition.

"Yes, as usual, during Eid, coconut prices go up. Thank God, there are still people who buy it," he said.

Apart from that, he also admitted to providing coconut grating (selep) services using a machine, so that buyers do not need to bother grating at home.

Meanwhile, Rahayu, one of the coconut buyers, said that even though the price was expensive, she still bought it to make coconut milk.

“Coconut milk is made into vegetable sauce for eating ketupat.

"Some of the grated coconut is used to mix in making lepet. But I don't make much, just enough for my family," he said.

Various sources state that the kwang-wung pest is attacking coconut trees in Blora.
