Laboratory test results showed that the free nutritious meal menu (MBG) contained bacteria.

As previously reported, a number of students at SDN 1 Tutup and SDN 3 Tutup experienced nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting after consuming the MBG menu from the Tutup Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

Regional Health Office Secretary Nur Betsia Bertawati explained to the press that her office received a report of the poisoning on October 1. At that time, the MBG menu distributed included white rice, eggs with spices in soy sauce, sautéed pumpkin, corn kernels, milk, and bananas.

"So, a total of 62 students were poisoned. All were treated as outpatients, none were hospitalized," he said.

His team then took samples of the MBG food and examined the students. Laboratory tests at the Blora Health Office and the Central Java Provincial Health Office showed that the MBG menu contained bacteria.

"Food samples found positive results for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in white rice and positive results for Bacillus sp. in stir-fried pumpkin and corn kernels," he explained.

Apart from food, bacteria are also found in water used for cooking.

From the examination of the gallon of water used for cooking, a total of 42 coliforms were found, while E. coli was zero.

"In PDAM water, a total of more than 200 coliforms and 7 Escherichia coli (E. coli) were found," he said.

This kind of menu has actually been served before, but this is the first time a food poisoning has occurred. Even nutritionally, the menu is considered adequate.

However, he said, poisoning can occur during preparation, processing, packaging, and distribution, including contamination from contaminated water.

"There are nutritionists who measure it," he continued.

Regarding this matter, the Blora Health Office will report the lab results to the Blora SPPG Task Force and Regional Coordinator.
