The emergence of two business entities, namely Mataram Connection Nusantara (MCN) and Minyak Gandu Blora (MGB), triggered unrest in society.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman in a press statement emphasized that oil well management in Blora Regency can only be carried out by BUMD, cooperatives, and MSMEs.

"Currently, two companies have received temporary permits: a cooperative and an MSME. The permits have been issued and can be submitted to Pertamina," he confirmed.

As is known, the management of community wells can only be managed by MSMEs, namely Mataram Connection, Blora Migas Energi Cooperative (BME) and BUMD Blora Patra Energi (BPE).

Village Head Doesn't Understand

Meanwhile, Gandu Village Head Iwan Sucipto finally spoke out regarding the issue.

He admitted that he did not know in detail the legality or licensing of business entities operating in his area.

"I don't know the details of the permits he has obtained. As far as I know, only Mataram Connection is involved," he told the press.

According to him, legality and permit issues fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant agencies, including the Blora Regency Licensing Office, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (DPMPTSP), and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

"If I grant permits, that's not my job. If there were a direct recommendation from the Regent or Governor explaining the legality to the public, there would definitely be no unrest," he said.

Iwan assessed that the emergence of public unrest was triggered by the stagnation of operational activities of the people's oil wells which had been a source of income for the community.

"The unrest arose because people are currently not carrying out operations for an unknown period of time," he explained.

He also emphasized that the village government would not interfere in the affairs of the people's oil mining association in Gandu Village.

"I don't interfere with the association's affairs. Everything is left to the association," he added.

Regarding the alleged interception of a truck carrying crude oil samples belonging to MGB, Iwan denied any instructions from him, as he was in Jakarta at the time of the incident.

"The information I received indicates there was no obstruction. However, people gathered at the volleyball court. Meanwhile, the truck is still at the well site and hasn't been lowered," he explained.
