The Grandfather Who Kicked a Cat to Death in Blora Admitted His Wrongdoing and Apologised After Being Harassed by Police

INFOKU, BLORA -A man with the initials PJ, 69 years old, was questioned by investigators from the Blora Police, Central Java, on Monday (2/2/2026) regarding alleged abuse of a cat which caused the animal to die.

After being questioned for three hours, PJ admitted his actions and stated that he was ready to take responsibility.

"I apologize and ask for your blessings. I admit my mistake and am ready to take responsibility for whatever the cat owner requests," said PJ.

Previously, an incident occurred on Sunday (25/1/2026) at Kridosono Field, Blora, when a cat that was walking with its owner was kicked by someone who was jogging.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Blora Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AKP) Zaenul Arifin, stated that his team was still investigating the cat owner and PJ.

"The investigation process is still ongoing and the person suspected of kicking the victim was also asked for information or clarification today at the Blora Police Criminal Investigation Unit office," said Zaenul.

Based on preliminary examination, the cat did not die immediately after being kicked.

"It's true that the cat is now dead, but the process until it died was about a week after the incident," explained Zaenul.

The police are still conducting further investigations.

If criminal elements are found, the perpetrator can be charged with Article 337 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code concerning the crime of animal abuse.

"If there is proof," said Zaenul.

Article 337 Paragraph (1) of the Draft Criminal Code stipulates that perpetrators of animal abuse can be punished with a maximum of 1 year in prison or a maximum fine of category II (Rp. 10,000,000).

Further explanation is given that the categories of abuse are:

a. Hurting or injuring animals or harming their health by exceeding limits or without proper purpose,

b. Having sexual relations with animals. This relationship can be more severe. The criminal penalty can be increased if the torture results in the animal being sick for more than a week, being disabled, seriously injured, or dying.

A video showing a cat being taken for a walk and then kicked by someone has gone viral on social media.

The cat owner, via the Instagram account @faridaarz, explained the chronology of events.

"The incident occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, when we went for a walk to Kridosono Blora field at 9 am," he wrote.

He also admitted to having asked the perpetrator why he kicked his cat.

"When I asked him why he kicked my cat, he raised his hand as if he wanted to punch me while saying 'Why is that?'" he said.

The cat's owner asked for help so that the perpetrator could be found immediately.

"I tried to chase the father but couldn't catch him. Now my cat is gone," he said. (Endah/ IST )
