The Grebeg Gunungan Ceremony at Goa Terawang was Flocked with Thousands of Residents from Various Regions


INFOKU, BLORA - The Grebeg Gunungan tradition was held for the first time in the Goa Terawang tourist area, Todanan District, on Thursday afternoon (11/12/2025). 

This event successfully attracted thousands of visitors from various regions, including Grobogan, Ngawi, Rembang, and surrounding areas.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman was present, along with the Deputy Regent, the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), and relevant officials. In his remarks, the Regent expressed his gratitude for the inaugural event, part of the series of events commemorating Blora Regency's 276th anniversary.

"Thank you for all your support. We pray that on this 276th anniversary, Blora will continue to progress, development will continue, and all residents will enjoy abundant agricultural produce. This mountain is a symbol of our gratitude for the blessings bestowed by Allah SWT," explained the Regent.

He also asked for prayers from the entire community so that he, the Deputy Regent, and the government ranks would always be given health, safety, and smoothness in leading Blora towards a better direction.

The Regent also appreciated the orderliness of participants and visitors during the series of events.

This is extraordinary. I thank you for everything being so orderly. God willing, we'll have an even more festive event next year," he added.


Meanwhile, Todanan Sub-district Head Karyono reported that this year's Grebeg Gunungan drew participants from all of the former Ngawen sub-districts, including Todanan, Ngawen, Japah, and Kunduran. Thirty-three gunungan (mountains), consisting of male and female gunungans, were paraded during the event, which served as a symbol of gratitude to the Creator.

One of the visitors, Dania from Grobogan, admitted that she had come a long way to witness the excitement of this tradition at Goa Terawang.

Apart from Grebeg Gunungan, the event was also enlivened by mass dances and Blora barongan performances which also attracted the attention of visitors.
