INFOKU, BLORA –Blora Regency is committed to supporting food self-sufficiency as glorified by the central government.
One form of this is by increasing existing rice and corn production through land optimization and increasing the Planting Index (PIP).
Blora Regent Arief Rohman explained that development in the agricultural sector , including rice, corn and soybean commodities, is one of the priorities that will continue to be developed.
This was done considering that Blora has great potential to increase national corn production.
"Blora is the sixth largest rice producer in 2024 and the second largest corn producer in Central Java. This means that Blora is a national food barn," explained Arief.
According to him, so far there have been several efforts made by the Blora Regency Government.
Namely, assistance sourced from the APBN and APBD. Among them are in the form of rice, corn, and soybean seeds.
"In this case, we certainly thank the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia for his commitment and concern for farmers in Blora," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture, Yudi Sastro, explained that currently, according to the data, the target for the capability and realization of the additional planting area (LTT) has reached 10,808 hectares.
"Of that amount, of course it has exceeded the capacity, which is 20 thousand hectares or has reached 55.57 percent of the central target. Of course, we also asked for this to be increased, maybe to 20 thousand hectares. It turned out that the Regent, the Head of the Office, and the PPL also agreed," he said.
