INFOKU, BLORA –Without realizing it, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program in Blora Regency, Central Java, has been running for more than a week, with the distribution reaching 3,000 portions of food every day to 3,000 beneficiaries.
Head of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of Blora Regency, Artika Diannita, revealed that there were leftover food ingredients produced from the program.
To manage food waste, the party is working together with the Environmental Service (DLH) of Blora Regency.
"For food waste produced from the kitchen, we also have DLH which helps with waste transportation," said Artika.

In addition to collaborating with the Blora DLH, public kitchen employees also play a role in processing food menu waste.
"We also have a party that manages waste such as vegetable waste, fruit waste is processed into fertilizer," he added.
Leftover food distributed to schools is also a concern.
The SPPG has coordinated with the school to handle the waste.
"For leftover food from school, we have coordinated with the school that can manage the waste itself. We hand it over to the school. So we receive the ompreng back in a clean condition without any leftover food, but we still wash it again in the kitchen," explained Artika.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Blora Regency Environmental Agency, Istadi Rusmanto, confirmed the involvement of the Environmental Agency in processing leftover food from the public kitchen.
He explained that using stainless steel plates resulted in less food waste.
"The waste material is stainless steel, which can be reused. The waste is very little, because the food waste is very little and it is easier for further processing because it is organic," explained Istadi in a press statement last Tuesday.
Istadi added that his party would process the organic waste for maggot cultivation.
"The DLH has a maggot process, it's easy to make maggots and simpler," he concluded.
This MBG program is expected to provide maximum benefits to the community while managing food waste efficiently. (Endah / IST )
