FMD Spreads, DP4 Blora Requests Additional Assistance of 5,000 FMD Vaccines

INFOKU, BLORA –The Blora Regency Government (Pemkab) is paying special attention to the outbreak of  foot and mouth disease  ( FMD ). 

Two  animal markets  targeted for  disinfectant spraying .

In addition, the Blroa Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service ( DP4 ) is also seeking additional  assistance  of around 5,000  FMD vaccines  .

Head of  DP4 Blora  Ngaliman told the press that as many as 2,000  PMK vaccines  had been distributed as of last Monday (13/1).

1,515 vaccines have been used, so the party plans to submit an additional assistance of 5,000 FMD vaccines to the  Central Java (  Jateng) Provincial Government (Pemprov).

However, the party cannot yet confirm whether it has been approved or not.

Even if approved, it may not necessarily be the amount requested.

Largest Cattle Population

"If additional  vaccination assistance  from the province arrives, we will again intensify the vaccination of healthy livestock," he added.

The request for a large number of FMD vaccines was made because   Blora has the largest cattle population in Central Java.

Separately, the Coordinator of the Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) of the Blora Regional Disaster Management Agency ( BPBD ), Agung Triyono, revealed that to prevent the spread of FMD, officers and a joint team have been deployed to spray disinfectant.

Precisely, at  Pon Market  on Wednesday (15/1). Also at Pahing  Randublatung Market .

"One fire engine unit was used for spraying in the Pon market area," he said.

Head of Animal Health ( Keswan ) Division DP4 Blora Rasmiyana revealed that spraying disinfectant has been attempted to break the chain of FMD transmission.

Until now, it is known that there has been no decrease in the number of cattle infected with FMD, and 661 cattle have been recorded as infected with FMD.

460 cows have recovered and 46 cows have died.

"This spraying is done to break the chain of FMD transmission, in addition to sterilizing the market before it is reopened," he said.  (Endah/ IST )
