INFOKU, BLORA -There are 4 traditional markets in Blora Regency chosen as places for street vendors (PKL) outside market operating hours, because they are considered strategic.
The local Trade , Cooperatives and SMEs Service ( DindagkopUKM ) has also started planning.
Head of Market Division of Blora Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs Office, Margo Yuwono, told the press that the four markets are strategically located with good highway access.
"It is strategically located on the edge of the highway and has space or a place as a place for economic circulation outside market operating hours," he explained.
According to him, the four markets selected were Sidomakmur Blora Market, Block W Kobong Wulung Market, Randublatung Market, and Banjarejo Market.
"Actually, there are 13 markets owned by the district government, but the others do not have space that can be used by street vendors," he said.
Furthermore, the operation of traditional markets outside of operating hours is carried out by adding lighting in the market area for use by street vendors during the night hours.
"Hopefully, activities in the market are not only market operational activities, such as morning to noon maybe. But, afternoon to evening can be used by street vendors," he said.
According to him, with this implementation, market operations can be maximized.
Margo gave an example, at Sidomakmur Market in Blora, market operations can reach 24 hours.
"The Sidomakmur Market starts as a vegetable market from early morning, then changes to a morning market until the afternoon. After that, it can be used by street vendors for food and entertainment for the community until midnight," explained Margo.
He also said that all street vendors who use the space in the four markets are often given directions.
Thus, it is hoped that branding of the four markets will stick in the community.
"There is guidance for street vendors who utilize the land. In Sidomakmur Market, I often tell them to introduce cheap culinary that is not far from the city center. So that it can be an option for the people of Blora city,'' Margo said. (Endah/ IST )
