FSP & SPSI Blora Urges Wage Increase, UMK Only Enough for Single Workers

INFOKU, BLORA - Based on considerations, it turns out that the district minimum wage ( UMK ) of Rp. 2.1 million is not felt to be able to improve the welfare of workers in Blora.

This was expressed by the chairman of the Federation of Cigarette, Tobacco, Food and Beverage Trade Unions ( RTMM ), the All Indonesian Workers Union ( SPSI ), Blora Subandi, who assessed that the UMK amount was only sufficient for single workers.

"Meanwhile, for those who are married, the UMK amount this year (Rp. 2.1 million) is not enough to meet their needs," he said.

The reason, he continued, is that the UMK calculation does not look at the needs of workers in the regions.

Subandi explained that the calculations set by the central government needed to be revised. By calculating the UMK based on the condition of labor needs in the region.

"We hope that  the Blora Regency Government  (Regency Government) will be a bridge so that increases are not only based on calculations applied by the central government," he said.

Apart from that, according to Subandi, the Blora Industry and Employment Service (Dinperinaker) needs to intensify wage monitoring in every company.

This is deemed necessary to find out which workers are still paid below the UMK.

Chairman of the Congress of the Alliance of Indonesian Trade Unions ( KASBI ) Blora Agung Pujo confirmed that currently it is felt that the MSEs are not yet prosperous for workers.

According to him, this was hampered by the new regulations implemented by the central government.
