INFOKU, BLORA –The Blora Health Service asked all pharmacies to separate the five types of syrup from other drugs.
Allegedly containing ethylene glycol (EG) contamination exceeding the threshold, pending testing and sampling from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
Currently, there is no acute kidney failure in children in Blora.
The five types are Termorex Syrup (fever medicine), Flurine DMP Syrup (cough and flu medicine), Unibebi Cough Syrup (cough and flu medicine), Unibebi Fever Syrup (fever medicine), Unibebi Fever Drops (fever medicine).
Secretary of the Blora Health Office, Wilys Yuniarti, explained that all pharmacies in the area were given an appeal letter to separate five types of syrup. Currently, testing and sampling is still being carried out by BPOM
The Health Office has not been able to withdraw the drug because it is still waiting for confirmation from the BPOM examination.
"We urge the public to choose drugs through official pharmacies and licensed shops," he said
From the monitoring of the health office team, according to him, in Blora currently no children have been diagnosed with acute kidney failure due to the chemical content of the syrup.
"Until now, there have been no epidemiological reports of cases," he explained.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) Blora Nurul Huda said that five types of drugs have been sterilized by each pharmacy and the distributor plans to withdraw them.

"For others, they are still traded according to the type allowed by BPOM," he explained.
He explained that the health office asked to follow the rules that had been issued from the Ministry of Health or from the BPOM regarding the sale of syrup drugs. (Endah/ IST )
