Construction of the Jiken Reservoir, Proposed to Use Provincial Funds

INFOKU, BLORA – According to the plan of the Blora Regency Government to build the Jiken Embung and in the future it will be proposed in the Central Java Development Plan Deliberation (Musrenbang).

Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) Blora Samgautama Karnajaya has received public complaints regarding the recent flooding. They immediately inspected the location of the flood. To find out what are the problems in the area.

"In the future, we can plan and handle it so that similar incidents don't happen again," he said.

The Head of SDA DPUPR Region I Surat explained that the flood that occurred in the Jiken area on Monday (7/3) was estimated to be a 10-year return period, because a similar incident had occurred about 10 years ago caused by the intensity of heavy rainfall.

"However, according to our OP officers in the field, the flood did not last long and subsided quickly," he said.

Currently, in Jiken there is already a pond whose existing condition is still a conventional pond, still in the form of an earthen pond.

According to the Minister of Trade, the reservoir needs to be reorganized and rebuilt. So that the construction of the reservoir is adequate as a flood control reservoir.

When it rains, this reservoir can later be used to accommodate excess water during a flood. During the dry season, it can be used for agricultural irrigation and raw water.

Furthermore, his party will propose that the Jiken reservoir construction activity be included in the priority program proposed by the Central Java Province Musrenbangwil 2022. "As a basis, we can propose its construction in 2023 through Central Java Provincial Bankeu funds to Blora in the 2023 fiscal year," he explained.

He hopes that the development proposal will be approved by the Central Java Provincial Government.

"With the construction of an adequate reservoir, it can minimize the potential for flooding in the Jiken village area, Jiken District," he said. (Endah/ IST )
