INFOKU, BLORA -The Regent of Blora, Arief Rohman, received 100 students from the 2026 Yogyakarta State University (UNY) Community Service Program (KKN) at the KKN student reception event held at the Blora Regency Bapperida Office, Tuesday (21/7/2026).
The activity was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of UNY, Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Putro, Ph.D., along with staff, heads of regional apparatus, sub-district heads, village heads where the KKN was implemented, as well as 100 UNY KKN student participants who will carry out community service in a number of villages in Blora Regency.
In his remarks, Regent Arief Rohman expressed his appreciation and welcome to all UNY KKN students.
According to him, the presence of students is a real implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and at the same time strengthens the synergy between Yogyakarta State University and the Blora Regency Government.
"On behalf of the Blora Regency Government, I welcome all UNY KKN students. Your presence is a concrete manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and part of the increasingly close collaboration between UNY and the Blora Regency Government," said the Regent.
He added that the good relationship between the Blora Regency Government and UNY is currently being strengthened through the process of establishing the UNY Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) in Blora.
This step is expected to expand access to higher education while improving the quality of human resources in Blora Regency.
The Regent assessed that the theme of this year's UNY Community Service Program, "Impactful Campus: Students Serve Towards a Healthy and Prosperous Society that is Superior, Creative, and Sustainably Innovative," is very much in line with the direction of development in Blora Regency.
Through KKN activities, students are expected to contribute to various strategic regional programs, ranging from improving the quality of education, accelerating the handling of Out-of-School Children (ATS), community empowerment, strengthening MSMEs, improving public health, environmental conservation, to developing village potential according to the characteristics of each region.
In a warm atmosphere, the Regent also highlighted the placement locations for KKN students, which he assessed were in villages that were relatively close to the city center.
"I want to ask, why are the KKN locations so convenient? They're all close to the city. Yet, Blora Regency has 271 villages scattered throughout, some even in the middle of the forest. Why is this? Is it a request from the university or from the students?" he joked, drawing laughter from the participants.
However, the Regent emphasized that the main challenge still faced by Blora Regency is handling out-of-school children (ATS).
The Blora Regency Government continues to strive to ensure that every child has the same opportunity to receive education as a foundation for improving the quality of life of the community.
Therefore, he hopes that UNY KKN students can support various mentoring, education, and community empowerment programs, especially in the fields of education, health, and community welfare.
Furthermore, the Regent challenged students and UNY officials to ensure that the implementation of KKN does not stop at ceremonial activities or final reports.
"I want at least some output, tangible work that has an impact and is sustainable for the community. Not a program or project that ends when the students complete their KKN (Community Service Program). Before leaving, hold an exhibition of the results. Don't just leave behind activity reports, but also a legacy of service that can continue to benefit the community," he emphasized.
The Regent also invited students to utilize the KKN opportunity as a direct learning process from the community by upholding ethics, respecting local culture, and building good communication with the village government and residents.
"Make every step of your service a valuable experience for learning, creating, and providing benefits to the community. Don't be afraid of KKN (corruption, collusion, and nepotism) in the jungle, kids!" he concluded. (Setyorini)
