Cat Lovers Solo Urges Prosecutor to Withdraw Appeal and Visit Blora District Attorney's Office

INFOKU, BLORA – A new chapter in the case of kicking a cat to death was carried out by representatives of Cat Lovers In The World (CLOW) Solo by visiting the Blora District Attorney's Office (Kejari), to ask the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to withdraw the appeal.

CLOW Solo representative, Hening Yulia, said that her visit aimed to deliver a letter of objection and a request for the Public Prosecutor to withdraw the appeal that had been filed on June 9, 2026.

"We came to deliver a letter of objection and a request to withdraw the appeal. The prosecutor previously filed an appeal in this case," he told the press.

According to him, the letter of objection in printed form was received directly by the Head of the General Crimes Section (Kasipidum) of the Blora District Attorney's Office as a representative of the prosecutor's office.

Previously, the PDF format of the letter had also been sent to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit via WhatsApp.

"The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit said that the letter had been forwarded to the leadership, and we were asked to wait for a decision in a few days or about a week," he said.

Hening admitted to receiving an explanation from the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit regarding the appeal considerations. According to him, a fine is considered to generate revenue for the state. Meanwhile, community service is a lower level of punishment than a fine.

Responding to this, Hening assessed that the Panel of Judges' decision to impose a 20-hour community service sentence was more relevant to conditions on the ground.

"Textually, a fine may benefit the state. However, contextually, the judge's verdict yesterday addresses a pressing issue within society. Besides enforcing the law, the decision also fulfills a sense of justice and is ecologically sound," he said.

He gave an example, if education related to animal protection was implemented at several points in Blora Regency, the impact was considered more effective in increasing public awareness.

"Imagine if there were 10 educational points in Blora. This would be quite effective in providing understanding about animal cruelty laws. Hopefully, it would increase public awareness and prevent similar cases from occurring," he added.

Hening emphasized that his party will continue to fight for the withdrawal of the appeal. Furthermore, his party supports the implementation of the community service sentence imposed by the court.

According to him, the problem of abandoned cats and cases of animal abuse in Blora requires a massive educational approach and a sustainable sterilization program.

"We prioritize needs on the ground. Many cats are still at risk of being abused. The solution is massive education and mass sterilization. If sterilization isn't possible, at least the series of educational programs that are part of the judge's decision can be implemented," he emphasized. (Endah/ IST )
