Commission A of the Blora Regency DPRD has begun to highlight the readiness for the implementation of village head elections.
Chairman of Commission A of the Blora DPRD, Supardi, asked the regional government to immediately map villages whose village heads' terms of office have ended.
According to him, a number of village heads in Blora are expected to have their terms of office end in August to September 2026.
This condition is considered necessary to anticipate early on to prevent a leadership vacuum at the village level.
"We must properly map out villages whose village heads' terms are ending. We must ensure there are no leadership vacuums that could hinder the proper functioning of village government," he told the press.
Supardi believes the village head elections could be scheduled earlier, around June or July 2026. This step is considered crucial to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
He also highlighted the financing of village head elections. He noted that a number of villages have been deemed capable of holding elections independently without unduly burdening the local government budget through the Community and Village Empowerment Service (PMD).
"Even so, technical coordination between the DPRD and the PMD still needs to be strengthened to ensure the village head elections run orderly and transparently," he explained.
Supardi admitted that there has been no formal coordination with the PMD regarding the technical aspects of the 2026 village head elections.
Therefore, Commission A of the Blora DPRD plans to immediately hold a coordination meeting with related agencies.
"There are many things that need to be discussed with the Village Development Agency (PMD), from appointing village heads and village officials to managing Village Funds and Village Allocation Funds," he concluded. (Endah/ I S T )
