INFOKU, BLORA – Allocation of the Self-Help Housing Assistance (BPBS) program in Blora Regency has begun rolling.
This year, as many as 1,450 residents' homes were included in the first phase of receiving aid sourced from the State Budget (APBN).
Secretary of the Blora Regency Housing, Settlement, and Transportation Agency, Denny Adhiharta Setiawan, said that in addition to the first phase allocation, the government is also preparing an additional quota for the second phase of 433 housing units.
"In the first phase, there were a total of 1,450 recipients. There will be an additional 433 units in the second phase," he said.
Of all the sub-districts in Blora Regency, Ngawen Sub-district is the area with the largest number of aid recipients.
It was recorded that around 500 houses in the sub-district were included in the BPBS recipient list.
Meanwhile, Bogorejo District did not receive any aid allocation this year.
Denny explained that each recipient received assistance worth IDR 20 million.
However, this assistance is not provided in the form of cash, but is distributed in the form of building materials and labor costs.
Done by Village Groups
In detail, Rp. 17.5 million was allocated for building material needs, while the other Rp. 2.5 million was used for labor or craftsman costs.
The program will be implemented in groups.
In each village, a group leader will be formed whose task is to coordinate the material needs and the process of building houses for aid recipients.
The group leader will also work with local hardware stores to meet residents' home renovation needs.
According to Denny, this pattern was chosen so that aid recipients, especially the elderly, would not experience difficulties in the material purchasing process.
"Because many of the recipients are elderly and women, it's impossible to go back and forth to buy nails or wood yourself. So everything is coordinated by the group leader," he explained.
Currently, his party is still facing obstacles regarding the availability of accompanying staff from the ministry.
Later, the facilitators will coordinate directly with the village government and their respective village heads.

However, the program is considered not only to help residents obtain decent housing, but also has the potential to stimulate the village economy.
This is because the building materials were purchased from local shops and the workforce also involved local residents.
In addition to improving the quality of housing, the program is also expected to revive the culture of mutual cooperation within the community.
"Usually, the host also prepares coffee, tea, and fried snacks for the workers," he said. (Endah/ IST )
