INFOKU, BLORA -Blora Regent Arief Rohman will conduct an evaluation of the internet budget sourced from the APBD amidst the budget efficiency policy.
This step follows the spotlight on the large amount of internet spending which is considered to need to be reorganized to be more targeted.
"If there's any input, we'll check it out. In line with the spirit of efficiency, we'll review it again," he said.
He admitted that he did not yet know the details of how the internet budget was used.
However, his party is open to evaluation, including the possibility of shifting the budget to more priority sectors.
"Frankly, I don't know the details yet. We'll check what the Rp 2.5 billion budget is for. If it can be streamlined, we'll certainly welcome public input," he stressed.
The collected data shows that the Blora Regency Government's internet budget in the last five years reached around IDR 14.769 billion.
The details are: Rp 4.771 billion in 2022, Rp 2.412 billion in 2023, Rp 2.446 billion in 2024, Rp 2.579 billion in 2025, and Rp 2.560 billion in 2026.
Meanwhile, the Blora Communication and Informatics Agency (Dinkominfo), as one of the OPDs responsible for the network, recorded a budget of around IDR 500 million in 2026.
The budget is used for dedicated internet services that are shared among a number of regional devices with speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
Head of IT at the Communication and Information Technology Office, Ahmad Hudil Khoiri, revealed that his office is currently evaluating internet needs in all OPDs and 16 sub-districts.
He said there had never been a comprehensive technical study regarding the real bandwidth needs of each agency.
"Some regional government agencies (OPDs) find it slow and end up subscribing to their own services. However, not everyone necessarily needs expensive dedicated internet," he said.
He also highlighted the potential for budget overlap, including in sub-districts that have received supplies but still budget their own funds.
