INFOKU, BLORA –Heavy rain that poured down on Cepu District caused flooding in a number of areas, Sunday night (12/4).
There are five affected sub-districts and one educational facility, namely SMPN 4 Cepu.
The condition of SMPN 4 Cepu, which is prone to flooding during the rainy season, needs serious attention.
Despite the urgency, the Blora Regency Government has not yet allocated a budget for permanent repairs this year. Its only hope now lies in funding from the central government.

The Head of the Blora Regency Education Office (Disdik), Sunaryo, told the press that the agency's current financial situation does not allow for major renovations. The measures taken so far are limited to emergency measures.
"The impact has been contained and cleaned up since Saturday night, but the flooding returned on Sunday. Currently, all that can be done is cleanup, assisted by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD)," Sunaryo explained while inspecting the site.
According to him, the SMPN 4 Cepu building is located lower than the drainage channel and is adjacent to rice fields, which makes the institution regularly affected by flooding. However, the current flooding is the worst.
Sunaryo further admitted that currently his party is only relying on assistance from the central government, because the repair budget required is very high.
"The solution is simply to raise the building 1.5 meters. Then, the water from the west can be diverted," he said.
While inspecting several classrooms, Sunaryo discovered water seepage. This was likely caused by the school's lower structure.

"I saw water gushing out from below in classrooms 9B, 9C, and 9F. It's probably flowing from the water in the rice fields to the west," Sunaryo continued.
In fact, this year SMPN 4 Cepu is the recipient of revitalization that has been surveyed from Jakarta.
However, the facilitator from Jakarta suggested that classroom improvements could be implemented if the building was raised by 1.5 meters first.
He added that sports facilities were also affected by the flood and needed to be repaired immediately.
"Many rooms need to be raised, which will require significant funding. We hope there will be a special allocation for SMPN 4 Cepu, and we hope the repairs can be carried out in stages," he concluded. (Endah/ IST )
