INFOKU, BLORA –An incident occurred, the kitchen belonging to a resident in Dukuh Jajar, Pengkolrejo Village, Japah District, caught fire on Friday (10/4).
This incident occurred at around 02.30 WIB and caused the homeowner to suffer burns.
This incident is thought to have been triggered by fuel oil (BBM) that spilled near the source of the fire.
The incident began when the homeowner transferred fuel from a large jerry can to a small jerry can using a hose.
The fuel is planned to be used to power the corn grinding machine.
During the transfer process, the victim left a jerrycan to prepare cooking ingredients.
At the same time, the fire from the firewood in the fireplace was still burning.
The small jerry can that had been filled to capacity then spilled onto the floor, and the fuel flow caught fire.
"The fire immediately grew and engulfed both jerry cans," said Japah Police Chief, AKP Isnaeni to the press.
The victim tried to extinguish the fire while screaming for help.
Residents who heard the screams immediately came to help. The fire was finally extinguished before it could spread to the main building.
However, the victim suffered burns on his hands and both thighs.
The victim received immediate medical treatment. Material losses are estimated at around Rp 1 million.
The police, along with the former Ngawen District fire brigade team, have visited the location to conduct a crime scene investigation (TKP).
A number of pieces of evidence, including remaining firewood, were secured for investigative purposes.

AKP Isnaeni appealed to residents to be more vigilant when carrying out activities in the kitchen, especially those related to fire and flammable materials.
"Make sure there's no fuel near the fireplace to prevent a similar incident from happening again," he stressed. (Endah/ IST )
