Beware..... Until March 2026, One Death from 14 Dengue Fever Cases in Blora

INFOKU, BLORA –Currently, cases of  dengue hemorrhagic fever  ( DHF ) in  Blora Regency  are still a serious threat.

As of March 2026, the  Blora Health Service  (Dinkes) recorded 14 cases of dengue fever with one patient dying.

This number serves as a warning to the public not to be careless.

Because throughout 2025, 133 cases of dengue fever with four deaths were recorded in the local area.

Head of  the Blora Health Office,  Edy Widayat, said that the weather conditions, which are still frequently rainy, mean that the potential  for the spread of dengue fever  remains high.

Puddles of water that appear in the home environment become a breeding ground for  the  Aedes aegypti mosquito .

"We still need to be vigilant about dengue fever, especially during the rainy season, as many places can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes," he told the press.

According to him, the most effective prevention remains through mosquito nest eradication (PSN) with the 3M Plus movement, namely regularly draining water reservoirs, tightly closing water reservoirs, and utilizing or recycling used items that have the potential to hold water.

In addition, people are also asked to routinely monitor the presence of mosquito larvae around their homes.

"If the environment is clean and there are no stagnant water sources, mosquito larvae will not develop. This is the most important thing the community can do," explained Edy.

The Blora Health Office continues to implement various preventative measures, including regular mosquito larvae monitoring, public health education, and  targeted fogging  in areas where cases have been detected.

However, he said, fogging was only a temporary measure.

The main effort still depends on public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness.

"Fogging only kills adult mosquitoes. If the larvae remain, mosquitoes will reappear. Therefore, regular pest control (PSN) must be carried out," he said.

Edy also urged the public to immediately seek medical attention if they experience symptoms suggestive of dengue fever, such as sudden high fever, joint pain, nausea, and the appearance of red spots on the skin.

"If your fever lasts more than two days, don't delay. Go to a community health center or hospital immediately for prompt treatment," he concluded.  (Endah IST )
