The rubbish, which is dominated by bamboo and wood, looks piled up because it is blocked by the iron pillars of the former bridge built by Pertamina.

Communication Relations & CID Zone 11 Officer, Edi Arto, admitted to the press that the former bridge pillars that caused the pile of rubbish did indeed belong to Pertamina.

"Yes, at that time the Kunduran Sub-district Head had already sent us a letter, in early February 2025," he said, Thursday (1/15/2026).

Pertamina had conducted a survey in 2025, but no efforts had been made to cut the iron from the bridge.

"We were waiting for the water flow to be sufficient, because last year had passed and the work hadn't been completed. Naturally, we would have conducted a resurvey, but we scheduled it for next week. It wouldn't be feasible to do it now," he explained.

A number of agencies together with residents carried out community service to clean up the garbage that had accumulated under the Kalitempur Bridge on Thursday (15/1/2026).

The rubbish that had piled up in the Lusi River could not flow because of the iron pillars of the Pertamina bridge.

Those who carried out the clean-up action used machetes, chainsaws, two rubber boats, and two backhoe excavators.

Acting Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Department of Blora Regency, Nidzamudin Al Huda, said that the waste came from the upstream of the river and then flowed following the flow of the water.

If left to accumulate, it will cause river banks to erode, potentially leading to landslides and flooding.

"We're cleaning this to prevent erosion, disrupting the flow, which will then erode the cliffs on the sides of the river, causing flooding," he explained.

He explained that this activity was not only carried out once, but had also been carried out last year.

Therefore, his party also reminded the public not to throw garbage into the river.

The hope is that people will not throw rubbish in the river, throw rubbish in the right place.

"So, the river flow is not disturbed and indeed this is the waste that contains the most organic waste," he said. (Endah/ IST )
