Sendang Bangeran was built from teak wood planted by Sunan Kalijaga.

INFOKU, BLORA –In Kamolan Village, Bangeran Hamlet, Blora City, Sendang Bangeran, there is a historical site that has the potential to be developed.

According to the legend circulating in the community, the origin of Sendang Bangeran is related to the story of Sunan Kalijaga.

The story goes that when Sunan Kalijaga was going to build the Demak mosque, he took teak wood from Jomblang Village, Jepon District, Blora Regency.

According to the story, the wood was dragged using a buffalo.

When they arrived in this area, the buffalo didn't want to walk and just went around in circles.

Maybe the buffalo was thirsty, so the handler looked for water sources around the area but there was no water.

Seeing this incident, Sunan Kalijaga then took a piece of teak wood and stuck it in the ground.

Not long after, a very large amount of water gushed out and became a spring.

Because the water smells bad (rotten, ed.), it is called Sendang Bangeran.

Evidence of teak wood still exists today, while some of the other wood used to make box wells in ancient times is still found near the pond.

Even though it was placed in an open place like this, no one dared to take the existing teak wood.

Because people already know that this area is proven to be quite haunted.

It can be seen that the location of Sendang Bangeran is between rice fields and residential areas.

There are still large trees that are considered sacred by the community.

The spring is located between the Banyan trees that grow near the pond.

According to the story, in the past around 80 percent of the people in Bangeran hamlet took water from this spring.

Until now, the existence of springs is still needed by the Bangeran community, especially during the dry season.  (Roes/ Processed from special sources )
