Flood Alert in 6 Districts, Also Threat of Wind and Extreme Weather at the End of the Year

INFOKU, BLORA -The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Blora Regency, Mulyowati, conveyed the threat of Hydrometeorological weather at the end of 2025, which resulted in the 2025/2026 rainy season arriving earlier than before.

The Blora Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) predicts extreme weather including whirlwinds and high-intensity rain in October, November and December.

Mulyowati, Head of the Blora Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated that rainfall intensity varies across the Blora region.
However, it rains daily, typically in the morning, afternoon, evening, or night.

"Unpredictable, prolonged rain will bring wind. There have been numerous reports of heavy rain, causing standing water, but not flooding. However, this rain was accompanied by fairly strong winds and many fallen trees," he explained.

He admitted that he often conveyed weather forecasts to all heads of departments and sub-district heads so that they could convey the weather forecast to village heads for the following day.

For the village heads who often experience flooding when it rains, there is starting to be a sense of alertness.

"With landslides, floods, and tornadoes, we need to be prepared for these disasters," he said.

6 Sub-districts at Risk of Flooding

Mulyowati explained that based on BPBD data, the potential flood areas are in the western and southern parts of Blora.

Covering the Districts of Banjarejo, Ngawen, Kunduran, Jati, Randublatung and Kedungtuban.

The potential for flooding in Blora is caused by the overflowing of the Wulung and Lusi rivers, land that cannot absorb water (bare forests), and large small rivers.

"Moreover, we checked several river flows and found that many of the fields and trees were no longer able to absorb water," he said.

He added that the potential for tornadoes in Blora is in the southern part, encompassing the districts of Jati, Kedungtuban, and Randublatung.

"We will coordinate with the Environment Agency (DLH), the Public Works and Housing Agency (DPUPR), and Perhutani to carry out replanting to reduce flooding and wind damage. We at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) will remain vigilant regarding unpredictable weather," he said.

His party often coordinates the felling of trees that are prone to falling on the side of the road due to strong winds.

He felt it was difficult for the relevant agencies to submit several potential trees that were at risk of falling.

"Recently, many trees have fallen, and when they do, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is responsible. The weather at the end of the year is sure to bring strong winds and heavy rain. We urge residents to be cautious during the peak of the rainy season," he concluded. (Setyorini)
