Blora City's Flood Control Infrastructure Relies on the Karangjati Reservoir

The development uses five hectares of land, with funding coming from the Central Java Provincial Budget.

The construction of the reservoir is part of  the National Strategic Project  ( PSN ), which costs Rp. 8.5 billion.

With a work duration of 145 days and a target completion date of the end of this month.

Head of the Water Resources (SDA) Division of the  Blora Public Works and Public Housing Agency (DPUPR) , Surat, said that there are many ways to mitigate flooding.

Among them is the development of flood control infrastructure.

"We have two. In Cepu, the Nglebok Reservoir and in the Karangjati Reservoir in the city," he said.

The Nglebok Embung in Cepu was completed last year, and has been functioning since the beginning of this year.

Meanwhile, the Karangjati Reservoir is still under construction.

"The Karangjati Reservoir in Nglawiyan is one of the flood control structures in Blora city," he said.

He said this development was important to anticipate the BMKG prediction of peak rainfall in January and February.

If the reservoir is completed this year, it can be used during the peak rainy season.

To ensure optimal reservoir performance, there are officers on duty during the rainy season.

So that the reservoir operations can work effectively.

"Your officers will  stay  during the rainy season. Ready to guard and mitigate flooding," he added.

However, he reminded that flood disaster mitigation also requires public awareness.

The letter reminds people to protect the environment.
