Traders Panic to Save Goods Affected by Flooding on the Blora-Cepu National Road

INFOKU, BLORA -Sunday (26/10/2025) heavy rain that poured down on the Blora Regency area, caused a number of points on the Blora-Cepu National Road to be flooded with water up to 20 to 30 centimeters high.

This condition caused traffic to be disrupted and a number of shophouses in Jiken Village, Jiken District along the route were also submerged in water.

The sudden influx of water caused the traders to panic and were overwhelmed in trying to save their merchandise.

Some of them did not even have time to secure equipment or stock of goods.

One of the traders, Mifta, said he was shocked when the water quickly entered his shop.

"The main thing I was thinking about was keeping the electricity away, so I didn't have time to secure my belongings," he said.

Likewise, Udin, another trader in the area, said that this flooding was the worst in recent years.

"Usually, it often floods when it rains heavily, but this is the first time it has entered the shophouse," he said.

According to him, the waterlogging was caused by drainage channels that were not functioning properly.

"It seems the drainage is already full of mud and hasn't been repaired, so the water is overflowing onto the road," he said.

BPBD Reaction

The Blora Regency BPBD Rapid Response Team, Agung Triyono, confirmed that there was standing water at a number of points due to heavy rain since the afternoon.

"Yes, there's standing water about 20 to 30 centimeters deep in several areas. Our team has been deployed to monitor and assist affected residents and road users," he said.

According to Agung, high rainfall in a short period of time and less than optimal drainage conditions were the main factors causing water to overflow onto the road.

"The water discharge is quite large, but the channels can't accommodate it quickly, so the water overflows onto the road and some enters residents' shophouses," he said.

"We are continuing to monitor weather conditions. As of tonight, the water has begun to recede, and there have been no reports of casualties," he said.

From monitoring at the location, officers implemented a traffic flow opening and closing system for the safety of road users.

Meanwhile, traders are still busy removing water from their shophouses so that their activities can return to normal. (Endah/ IST )
