Meanwhile, those who are not Muslim can adapt to this atmosphere.

One ASN, Fiqri Hidayat, admitted that his superiors had advised him to wear the uniform.

This is based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2015 dated October 15, 2015 concerning Santri Day and Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2025 dated September 24, 2025 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Santri Day 2025.

"We, as civil servants, will continue to follow the leadership's directions," said Fiqri after the roll call.

By wearing these clothes on weekdays, Fiqri remembers the old days when he was still a student at an Islamic boarding school.

"Yes, this is quite interesting, because we only wear the traditional Islamic boarding school uniform once a year, and it reminds me of the old days of being an Islamic boarding school student," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Blora, Arief Rohman, appealed to civil servants and employees in regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD) to wear santri uniforms on Santri Day.

"Yes, this is a once-a-year tradition where we wear white sarongs. This is to foster our love for the students and Islamic boarding schools in Blora Regency," he said after the roll call.

According to him, currently many Islamic boarding school students occupy strategic positions in Indonesia.

He gave an example, there were students who had served as President such as Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, then served as Vice President such as Ma'ruf Amin, there were also those who served as governors and regents.

"So, students must be confident. Students can become president, like Gus Dur. Students can become vice president, like Kiai Ma'ruf Amin. There are governors, deputy governors, and regents like me, too. Others, including the police, the military, and others, can play roles everywhere," he explained.

As a regent and a student, Arief is proud of his success in implementing regional regulations (perda) for Islamic boarding schools.

"With the regional regulation on Islamic boarding schools, we hope to be able to support Islamic boarding school programs in the future and help improve human resources in Blora Regency," he concluded. (Endah/ IST )
