INFOKU, BLORA –Bloraresidents often find fossilsof ancient animals.
Most recently, residents of Gondel Village, Kedungtuban District, discovered an ancient buffalo fossil.
The Blora Regency Government admits that it does not yet have a budget for compensation for fossil discoverers .
This has an impact on the government's difficulty in providing appreciation to the community as inventors.

Therefore, people are reluctant to hand over fossil findings to the government.
The Manager of the Artifact House and Cultural Heritage Officer of the Blora Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Agency (Dinporabudpar), Lukman Wijayanto, said that the Blora Regency Government actually has a regulatory basis for providing appreciation to residents.
"It's stated in the Cultural Heritage Law. It's also stated in Regional Regulation No. 10 of 2019 concerning the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in Blora Regency," he explained.

According to him, the regulation requires regional governments to provide reserve funds to be used for rescue activities.
"This includes compensation for the finder, also known as tali asih (compassion). Of course, this is adjusted to the district government's capabilities. This is also done nationally; we've seen it in Sangiran, so it's certainly a reference," he said.
He explained that the Blora Regency Government had previously provided compensation to fossil discoverers. However, the last time was quite a long time ago, about 10 years ago.
"It's called a compassionate gift because it honors the citizens. It's about honesty and compliance with laws. They realize that under government, fossil fuels will be better cared for and the benefits will be felt. It can also be used for education," he said.

There is a clear legal basis for this regulation. However, the implementation of the provision of compassionate assistance has not been optimal. (Endah/ IST )
