The Dragon Awoke and the Lusi River Blora Was Created... This is the Legend

INFOKU -In Blora City, there is a river that circles the city. The river is located to the east of Blora City, flowing from north to south, then turning west.

The river flows westward, entering the Purwodadi area and finally meeting the Serang River. That river is the Lusi River.

During the time of Prabu Sri Jayabaya, the king who reigned in Kediri, there were three nomads named Ki MRanggi, Parta Gendul, and Parta Balung.

After wandering for a long time leaving Kediri, they stopped in a forest on Mount Butak which was filled with teak trees.

Ki Mranggi looked around the place and felt it was suitable to live there.

Finally, the three of them decided to live in the forest located on Mount Butak.

It turned out that there were already residents there before the three of them arrived.

And it turns out the occupant is Ki Bahurena.

When Ki Bahurena walked towards the spring, he saw three people building a simple house in the forest.

Then Ki Mranggi introduced himself and his two friends, Parta Gendul and Parta Balung.

Ki Barurena invited them to stay there with the message not to disturb the creatures living there.

The three of them lived in the forest of Mount Butak happily and peacefully.

One day, Parta Balung wanted to build a boat. As Parta Balung wandered around his neighborhood, his eyes fell on a suren tree.

The Balung Party cut down the suren tree. Everything the Balung Party did was done without Ki Mranggi's knowledge.

After the suren tree was cut down, Parta Balung began to make a boat.

Before he had time to finish the boat, suddenly heavy rain fell accompanied by strong winds for a day and a night.

In the midst of the rain and storm, suddenly a dragon appeared.

The dragon snake walked in the ground, and a mound of earth appeared like a hill where its path had been.

The land that the dragon snake passed through collapsed and the landslide turned into a mud flow and finally a mud flood occurred.

All objects hit by the mud flood collapsed, teak trees fell and the forest was damaged.

Residents' houses at the foot of Mount Butak were not spared from the raging mud flood, as were the houses of Ki Mranggi and Ki Bahurena.

Ki Mranggi looked around his house and the surrounding forest, it turned out that everything had been damaged.

This place was destroyed by a mudslide. It was named Coban Village because it was here that I experienced a trial from God.

Ki Mranggi's search was fruitless. He failed to find the dragon that had already caused the damage.

Then he sought help from Sheikh Jatikusuma who was meditating on the peak of Mount Butak.

The journey to Mount Butak requires climbing and passing through dense forest.

It was a tiring journey! However, Ki Mranggi, determined to get help, didn't feel the fatigue.

He told Sheikh Jatikusuma what happened at his place .

Sheikh Jatikusuma took the heirloom Kiai Akik Ampal Bumi.

He met Ki Mranggi again who was stunned to see the heirloom held by Sheikh Jatikusuma.

Then Sheikh Jatikusuma planted the heirloom on the peak of Mount Butak and the peak of Mount Butak opened.

Inside, the dragon snake was sleeping soundly, looking tame and not ferocious.

However, suddenly a strong wind and heavy rain came which lasted for several days.

After the rain stopped, several springs appeared at the top of Mount Butak.

Seeing the appearance of several springs, Ki Mranggi was surprised and asked Sheikh Jatikusuma.

The spring whose water flows east is called the Kesemen River, passing through Tahunan Village, Bangilan, and continuing to Bojonegoro.

The water that flows west becomes the Brubulan River.

The water flowing north becomes the Mudal River passing through the Pamotan area.

Meanwhile, the spring whose water flows south through Gunung Kajar Village and continues to Blora is called the Lusi River.

Why? Because the landslides occurred in the areas where the water passed, and residents sought safety or evacuated.

Refugee in Old Javanese is called ngusi and from the word ngusi the name of the Lusi River was born.

After seeing this incident, Ki Mranggi returned home and lived as usual.
