IPB Lecturer Returns to Hometown to Support Blora's Journey to Become an Organic Regency

INFOKU, BLORA -Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University) again held the Lecturer Returns Home program in Blora Regency, Central Java, Saturday (9/8/2025). 

This time it took place in Bajo Village, Kedungtuban District, and was the second time it was held in Blora as part of IPB University's community service program.

Blora Regent Arief Rohman, who was present in person, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this program.

"The theme of water management for dry land is very appropriate, as Blora is a dry area. We are committed to developing organic farming and producing healthy products," he said.

The Regent also emphasized the importance of price incentives to encourage farmers to switch to organic systems.

"It is our shared responsibility to develop the market," he explained.

He hopes that this campus-village collaboration will not only encourage Blora to become a producer of organic rice, but also organic fruit.

"We also want to improve human resources so that Blora farmers become more empowered," he concluded.

The IPB University team was led by Prof. Dr. Bayu Krisnamurthi, a native of Ngawen, Blora, accompanied by Dr. Anna Fariyanti (from Cepu), Herawati, Dr. Yanti Nuraeni Muflikh, and Al-May Abyan Izzy Burhani.

They have previously been actively running various IPB programs in Blora such as Kedai Reka, Thematic Community Service Lecture (KKNT), and Capstone Project.

On this occasion, the focus of the activity was directed at supporting Blora Regency's efforts towards organic farming as well as efficient water resource management.

In his remarks, Prof. Bayu emphasized the importance of water management institutions at the village level.

"There are many examples that we can adapt from IPB and other regions to implement in Blora," he said.

As a form of real support, the IPB team provided fruit seeds and organic fertilizer to local farmers.

Prof. Bayu also proposed the formation of PAMOR BLORA as a forum for farmers who focus on organic farming.

The Lecturer Returns Home Program is a tangible demonstration of the synergy between science, innovation, and local wisdom for a more sustainable future for Blora agriculture. (Setyorini)
