Why the Arjuna Wiwaha Cepu Statue Collapsed, Here's the Explanation

INFOKU, Cepu, BLORA –A rather surprising incident occurred on Tuesday morning (17/6), namely the Arjuna Wiwaha Cepu statue collapsed.

The statue, which is an icon in the east of the Thousand Lights Park, suffered severe damage to the statue's floor.

The statue was built in 2017. The collapse of the statue is thought to have been caused by the decaying building structure.

Materials in the form of red bricks, reinforced concrete, and cement fragments were seen falling below.

The iron structure and debris are clearly visible hanging from the side of the building.

"I don't know exactly when the building collapsed, but it happened on Tuesday morning. The damage to the east was quite severe," said Wawan, a resident of Cepu Village.

Wawan is worried that if it is not treated immediately it will get worse.

In fact, it can endanger visitors and road users. Because, its location is in the middle of the bustling activities of residents.

Cepu Sub-district Head, Endah Ekawati, said that the collapse of the Arjuna Wiwaha statue's footing had been reported to the Blora Environmental Service (DLH).

"We have reported to the DLH," he said.

Head of Blora Environmental Agency, Istadi Rusmanto, admitted that he was aware of the damaged condition of the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue in Cepu.

According to him, the building is already around 8 years old, since it was built in 2017.

"That's because the structure is eaten away by age. And it does need maintenance," he said.

He continued, it takes quite a high cost for maintenance. Both for the Thousand Lights Park and the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue.

"For the current damage, we will still repair it," he emphasized  (Endah/ IST )
