Reportedly PT Semen Gresik Rembang Stops Operations, Many Blora Residents Unemployed

INFOKU, BLORA –There is news that PT  Semen Gresik Rembang has stopped operating, a number of residents of  Ngampel Village , Blora City District have stopped working. 

This was conveyed by the Head of Ngampel Village, Mohamad Astiadi Maryanto.

Ngampel Village, Blora District is one of the ring 1 villages with the Gresik Rembang Cement Factory.

From the village there are dozens of residents who work in the cement factory. The Head of Ngampel Village, Mohamad Astiadi Maryanto, said that the exact number of his residents who work at PT Semen Gresik Rembang is indeed not recorded, but the number is in the dozens.

"We don't have any information about the real number. There are dozens. There aren't even a hundred. But it's almost," he explained.

He did hear rumors that PT Semen Gresik Rembang had stopped operating. However, he could not confirm it yet.

"The information about the closure was just yesterday. Well, earlier (today, Monday 2/6) it was told directly by the workers," he added.

Several people who work at PT Semen Gresik Rembang are at the village hall taking part in workshop and welding training.

They then told the story to the head of Ngampel Village.

"Earlier, it was said that they were sent home," he explained.

According to him, some of these people deliberately took the training to anticipate if they were really laid off. At the same time, they sought knowledge for additional skills.

"Maybe they anticipate or are no longer bored. It could be an anticipation of layoffs. But it could also just be filling free time. Finally, they joined the welding training in the village," he added.

He himself until now does not know the ins and outs of why PT Semen Gresik Rembang stopped operating. Because there has been no official statement from Semen.

"I don't know what the problem is. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon," he explained.

According to him, apart from those who work directly at PT Semen Gresik, several residents in Ngampel Village are involved in factory operations, such as those who own transport fleets.
