Adm Perhutani KPH Randublatung Herry Merkussiyanto Putro confirmed that the raid team was pursuing  the wood theft  .

" The ambush  was carried out by a team of four people. However, the people being chased numbered around nine people," he said.

During the pursuit, the suspected wood thieves were not caught.

The raid was only able to secure three small pieces of teak wood, and one broken motorbike.

"Usually, not all wood thefts use motorbikes, but are beaten together," he explained.

"Because the forest terrain is not easy to pass through on motorbikes," he added.

It was revealed that the accumulated losses from the theft reached IDR 750 thousand for three pieces of wood.

According to him, this was due to the size and age of the wood that was cut down being relatively young.

"Wood theft does not take into account the amount. As long as it becomes money, that's usually it," he said.

However, he said the biggest loss was not the nominal price of the wood, but the young age of the wood and the damage to  the forest ecosystem  .

"The biggest loss is to  the environment , if it is not stolen it can have an environmental effect," he explained.

Furthermore, all evidence has been secured and a report has been made regarding the ambush.
