Floods in Blora Regency Submerge Around 1,600 Houses

INFOKU, BLORA – Due to the heavy rain  that poured down on  Blora  from afternoon to evening last Monday (19/5), 10 of the 16 sub-districts were affected by  flooding . 

Until yesterday afternoon (20/5), Blora Regional Disaster Management Agency ( BPBD ) officers were still struggling with the flood and collecting data.

It is estimated that more than 1,600  houses  were submerged and  bridge infrastructure  was damaged.

The Blora BPBD Rapid Reaction Team (TRC)   Agung Triyono revealed that almost all sub-districts in the district were affected by the flood, from the data collected, 10 out of 16 sub-districts in Blora were affected.

His party is still collecting data to find out the victims affected.

"For now, the existing data is that around 1,600 houses were submerged in floodwater, we are still collecting data," he said yesterday afternoon.

Tri said, marathon officers have been combing flood points since Monday afternoon (19/5). Also evacuating affected residents.

Then, at night it shifted to  Kradenan District . Then yesterday morning (20/5), it shifted to  Randublatung District . 

Meanwhile, during the day it shifts to Ngawen and  Kunduran Districts .

He admitted that he had evacuated a mother and a two-month-old baby and a seven-month-old toddler in Mojorembun Village, Kradenan District.

At around 02.30 WIB yesterday morning, boats  were put on standby to evacuate victims from their homes.

"In Mojorembun Village, the flood occurred because the Wulung River overflowed due to   heavy rain ," he explained.

He also said that the flood conditions in Sidomulyo Village,  Banjarejo District , especially in Jurangjero Hamlet, were much worse.

The flood was  a flash flood , which caused quite serious damage.

Dozens of houses suffered damage of varying degrees, ranging from light, moderate, to severe. ''Dozens of houses were affected. There were light, moderate to severe damage,'' he said.

The severe damage that occurred in several houses even caused the walls to collapse.

Thus, the house is no longer habitable. As a result, a number of residents were forced to leave their homes and take refuge in the homes of relatives or close friends temporarily for safety and comfort.

"Because they cannot be occupied, currently some have taken refuge in the homes of relatives," he explained.

In addition to submerging thousands of houses with a height of about 50 centimeters to half a meter, several infrastructure such as bridges connecting villages were also damaged. As reported in Ngawen and Kradenan Districts.

Ngawen Sub-district Head Zaenuri explained that ten villages in Ngawen Sub-district were affected by flooding until yesterday morning (20/5).

In addition, several infrastructures were damaged. Namely, seven bridges connecting villages and hamlets were damaged, broken and collapsed.

There are also sections of road that have collapsed.

"At Temuwoh Bridge. we installed  police line , we directed them not to pass, the bridge connecting the hamlet was broken. It cannot be passed. Alhamdulillah, this afternoon it has receded," he explained.

Head of the Highways Division of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency ( DPUPR ) Blora Danang said that his party was conducting data collection and verification in the field. Also recording several infrastructures that were reported damaged.

Floods inundated district roads, and several bridges were damaged due to flooding in several sub-districts.
