The road was previously badly damaged and very slippery when it rained, endangering residents passing by.

"The road conditions used to be bad, maybe when it rained it was very slippery. Now, thank God, thanks to the community's self-help and from the village too, everything runs smoothly," said Yanto, one of the residents.

Residents repaired a 1 kilometer long road with a width of 7 meters independently.

The casting process is carried out by leveling the casting mixture from a mixer truck, after previously being compacted using a sling truck.

Casting has started since Thursday (17/4/2025) and is targeted to be completed in two weeks.

"Self-help, self-help from the community who wants to join, they join, that's all," said Yanto.

Plantungan Village Official, Fajar, explained that this project is the second phase of the concrete road repair program.

The first phase will be carried out in 2024 with a budget of IDR 1.4 billion.

"This is the second stage of self-help in making concrete roads, yesterday in 2024 the first stage was implemented with a length of 1 kilometer," he explained.

The second phase budget comes from Village Original Income (PADes) originating from Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES), with a total value of IDR 2.5 billion.

"The source of PADes funds comes from BUMDES, the funds are around IDR 2.5 billion," he said.

Fajar said that previous road conditions often endangered users, including school children.

"The road conditions before this casting were quite bad, because yesterday on the way there, there was information that a school child had fallen," he said.

"We hope that with the construction of this road, the mobility of residents and school children will be smoother. There will be no more news of school children falling," he added.

Fajar added that previously the road had the status of a district road, but had been changed to a village road so that it could be managed directly by residents.

"If I'm not mistaken, it used to be a district road, but last year it was downgraded, they said. So that the villagers can build their own roads," he concluded (Endah/ IST )
