Supporting Food Self-Sufficiency, Minister of Immigration and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Plant Rice in Cepu

INFOKU, Cepu, BLORA -Minister of Immigration and Corrections Commissioner General of Police (ret.) Drs. Agus Andrianto together with Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono conducted a working visit to Blora.

During his working visit, the Minister of Immigration and Deputy Minister of Agriculture planted rice together in the rice fields of Kentong Village, Cepu District, Monday (9/12/2024).

The joint rice planting carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture together with PT. Wilmar Padi Indonesia was carried out as a form of support for food self-sufficiency which continues to be promoted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

The Regent of Blora, Arief Rohman, expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Sudaryono, who were willing to attend in Blora.

This joint rice planting activity, said Regent Arief, is also a symbol of commitment to supporting food security, which involves various parties, including the government, community, and private sector, increasing farmers' access to modern technology, superior seeds and fertilizers.

Including supporting agricultural infrastructure, increasing cooperation with the business world.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono said that monitoring by the Ministry of Agriculture showed that the area planted per month from November to December had increased quite significantly.

"From our visit and our accompaniment to Minister Agus, we ensure that cross-sectoral, cross-ministerial synergy is all one voice, namely to make food self-sufficiency a success as the vision and mission of President Prabowo Subianto," said Sudaryono.

Water shortage

On this occasion, the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Commissioner General of Police (Ret.) Drs. Agus Andrianto said, seeing the residents of Blora in terms of food is indeed a bit difficult water.

During the rainy season there is flooding, during the dry season there is no water, so the contribution from partners is certainly very important.

"Since I became Deputy Chief of Police, I have been building food security. Therefore, we with friends from the police, I, and the Chief of Police have permission to carry out rice planting activities, hopefully later there will be other investors who can support the realization of food security," explained Agus.

To support President Prabowo's steps, Agus Andrianto continued, food self-sufficiency will also be carried out for inmates in correctional institutions to become a vehicle for them to hone their skills.

"I think we agree that skills in the agricultural sector are skills that do not require very specific skills so that everyone can do it and the results are also clear," he explained.

In addition, Andre, the Minister's nickname, continued, this step will certainly also support Indonesia's food self-sufficiency potential program. Later, these fostered residents will become an agricultural brigade.

"We are confident that next year's production can increase, especially since all ministries of the Indonesian House of Representatives parliament, then the District Government, are also present, the police and the TNI, all working together, God willing, our products will increase, our food is sufficient and we can achieve self-sufficiency," he explained.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT. Wilmar Padi Indonesia, Saronto, said that the joint rice planting in Blora was part of the Simultaneous Planting held by WPI in 24 other locations in Java and Sumatra. Namely, in Mojokerto, Sidoarjo, Jombang, Pasuruan, Madiun, Ngawi, Banten, Sumedang, East Lampung, Central Lampung, Banyuasin, Batubara, and Deli Serdang. The total area of ​​land to be planted in the activity reaches 14,500 Ha.

"At other points, this Simultaneous Planting was attended by partner farmers and WPI agronomists (extension workers). Hopefully this will be a good start in starting the first planting season of 2025," said Saronto on the sidelines of the Joint Planting of Partner Farmers Farmer Engagement Program (FEP) Planting Season I 2025 in the Village.
