INFOKU, BLORA -A total of 662 students from public and private junior high schools in Blora Regency took part in the 2024 Language Month competition.
The competition held by the Education Department was also to enliven the 275th Anniversary of Blora Regency.
The competition was held in three places, namely at the Education Office, SMP 6 Blora and at the Pendopo of the Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism Office (Dinporabudpar), Saturday (11/30/2024).
"This competition is held with the hope of fostering a sense of love for the nation's culture and channeling students' talents and potential in academic and non-academic fields," said Budiyono, chairman of the Language Month Competition committee.
This competition was initially going to be held in October to coincide with the commemoration of Language Month to remember the history of the establishment of Indonesian as the official language on October 28, 1928, during the Youth Pledge.
However, the competition was postponed to November due to one reason or another. The Language Month Competition is a series of language competitions covering Indonesian, Javanese and English.
The Indonesian language competition branches include poetry creation and reading, news writing, short story reading, vlogs, and stand up comedy. The Javanese language competition branches include wayang story telling, cerkak reading, Javanese script writing.
The English competition branches include Speech Contest, Story Telling, News Anchor, and Master of Ceremony (MC). ''The total number is 12 competitions,'' said Budiyono.
Head of the Blora Education Office, Sunaryo, who officially opened the Regency-level Language Month Competition, hopes that this competition will be held routinely every year.
Apart from preserving the nation's culture, this competition, said Sunaryo, is also a medium to explore students' potential.
"So it is expected to be held routinely every year. Thus there is a place for students to channel their talents and motivate students in Blora to achieve more," said Sunaryo.
A number of accompanying teachers and student participants enthusiastically welcomed the return of the Blora Regency Language Month Competition after being on hiatus in previous years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
They also appear with full confidence in every competition they participate in. Moreover, the jury appointed are those who are competent in their respective fields.
