INFOKU, BLORA - The impact of environmental pollution from the activities of PT Kapur Rembang Indonesia ( PT KRI ) is still being felt by residents of Jurangjero Village, Bogorejo District .
They urged the factory to be closed yesterday (11/26).
The alliance that joined the factory closure action held a katan tapan seren on the limestone hills , not far from the factory location.
One of the action coordinators, Eko Apriyanto, said that the Dukuh Kembang residents' association, Jurangjero Village, is urging the closure of the illegal PT KRI.

Because it has been proven to pollute the environment and operate without a valid permit .

"We demand the government and related agencies to immediately close PT KRI permanently and ensure that there are no more illegal activities in our area," he said.
Eko emphasized that for eight months the pollution caused by PT KRI had also damaged the ecosystem, polluted the air , and threatened the health of residents.

According to him, this is a serious violation of environmental rights .
"Citizens have the right to a clean and healthy environment as guaranteed in the constitution and laws," he explained.
He added that the basis for this is stated in Article 66 of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management (UUPPLH).
That anyone who fights for the right to a good and healthy environment cannot be prosecuted criminally or sued civilly.
"As happened in Dukuh Kembang, Jurangjero Village, some residents were criminalized when they fought for their environment," he explained.
According to him, the North Kendeng Mountains, which have been a source of life for thousands of residents, are facing a serious threat.

PT KRI's mining and limestone factory activities have caused air pollution.

"In addition, 23 residents were criminalized. Reported to the police, even though they wanted to protect their environment," he said.
He said the action was carried out by reading out demands.

Previously, PT KRI's legal counsel, Abdul Mun'im, emphasized that his party was still monitoring the legal process of the 23 residents who had been detained by the Rembang police.
His party has submitted a note of objection to the actions taken by the Rembang Police .
" The suspect is facing a five-year prison sentence, but the investigators have not detained him, so we have submitted a note of objection," he said.

Representing the company, he denied that PT KRI did not have a permit.
