Two Grandfathers in Blora Save Train from Broken Tracks

INFOKU, BLORA -High appreciation was given by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 4 Semarang to two residents of Dukuh Pengkol, Pengkoljagong Village, Jati District, Blora Regency, who played an active role in maintaining the safety of train travel.

The two residents, Jamin (62) and Sarmo (66), promptly reported a broken rail on the upstream line at Km 57+1, which is located between Doplang Station and Randublatung Station, Blora Regency, to KAI officers.

This incident occurred on Sunday (6/10/2024) at 17.08 WIB, when the 132A Dharmawangsa Ekspress train serving the Jakarta - Semarang - Surabaya Pasarturi route was about to cross Km 57+1.

The train driver of KA 132A saw Jamin and Sarmo who gave a signal by waving a red shirt and shouting a warning.

Responding to this, the engineer immediately braked and stopped the train.

"After receiving confirmation from residents regarding the disturbed condition of the tracks, the train driver immediately reported the situation to the train control center and the nearest station via telecommunication radio," said KAI Daop 4 Semarang Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo.

The Daop 4 Semarang Infrastructure Maintenance Team was immediately deployed to the location to check and confirm the incident. "After confirming the truth of the residents' report, the team provided guidance to KA 132A Dharmawangsa to cross the area safely at a speed of 5 km/hour," he explained.

The rail repair process was carried out immediately by the Infrastructure Maintenance Team, and at 18.40 WIB, the track was successfully repaired so that trains could pass at normal speed.

"As a result of this incident, KA 132A Dharmawangsa experienced a delay of 40 minutes," added Franoto.

With the heroic actions of the residents, KAI expressed its deep gratitude to Jamin and Sarmo for their concern and quick action.

"KAI greatly appreciates the role of citizens who helped secure train travel. Their courage and concern are invaluable in preventing greater potential dangers," said Franoto.

In addition, KAI also apologized to KA 132A Dharmawangsa customers for the delays caused by this incident.

"The safety, security and comfort of train travel is our top priority. KAI is committed to continuously improving service standards and prioritizing safety on every journey," he added.
