Optimizing Reservoir Capacity & Flood Prevention, Gabus Dam Normalized

INFOKU, BLORA - The Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) of Blora Regency is carrying out normalization of the Gabus dam in Blora District. 

"This normalization is carried out to optimize the dam's reservoir capacity to be more optimal, as well as to mitigate flood disaster prevention, facing the rainy season. So the main thing is to restore the reservoir capacity to its original state, so that later it can accommodate water optimally," explained the Head of Water Resources (SDA) of the Blora PUPR, Surat, in Blora, Wednesday (10/23/2024).

He said that optimizing the water storage capacity was intended to ensure the availability of irrigation water in the Gabus Irrigation Area (DI) is guaranteed to reach the rice fields.

"So the normalization activity is in order to support, optimize the irrigation water reservoir to be returned to its original condition so that the water reservoir in the dam area can function optimally in accommodating the irrigation water capacity to be used to irrigate rice fields covering an area of ​​approximately 345 hectares in the Gabus Irrigation Area service which stretches from Mlangsen Village, Jetis Village to Buluroto Village, Banjarejo District," he explained.

Incidentally, added the Head of SDA DPUPR Blora, his channel received an irrigation network improvement program to carry out, repair the irrigation channel network which has improved its function.

Namely from land channels to concrete lining financed from the Special Allocation Fund (DAK).

The budget allocated from the 2024 State Budget is IDR 1.5 billion to build an irrigation network channel approximately 1.5 km long.

"So that the overall function of the Gabus dam can function optimally. We are not only improving the irrigation channels, but the upstream areas are also normalized, so that the buildings that are built later can all function optimally to be able to flow irrigation water from Mlangsen Village, Jetis Village to Buluroto smoothly," he explained.

He explained that the normalization work had been carried out starting Monday, October 21, 2024.

He also invited every villager in the upstream area of ​​Gabus dam such as Purworejo Village, Pelem Village and Kamolan Village not to throw garbage in the Gabus river. (Setyorini)
