Utilizing CAT Solutions to Overcome the Dry Season Water Crisis in Blora

INFOKU, BLORA  -According to the plan, underground water sources will be explored and their use maximized.

Remembering that when the dry season hit, residents in 14 sub-districts had difficulty with raw water.

The potential groundwater reserves in the Groundwater Basin (CAT) area in Blora are naturally capable of storing water in the soil when the rainy season arrives, found in two loci.

First, the Watuputih Basin in the northern Kendeng mountain area borders Rembang Regency with an area of 1,496 hectares. Divided into Blora District, 47 hectares, Bogorejo 865 hectares, and Jiken 584 hectares.

Second, the Randublatung Basin with a total area of 21,685 hectares. Includes Cepu District 2,911 hectares, Jati 3,679 hectares, Kedungtuban 5,275 hectares, Kradenan 3,942 hectares, and Randublatung 5,875 hectares.

Head of the Water Resources (SDA) Division of the Blora Surat Public Works and Spatial Planning Service (DPUPR) explained that efforts are being made to mitigate water availability in the CAT area.

Including underground water exploration in the Randublatung Basin area. Two villages are being surveyed by the Bengawan Solo River Basin Center (BBWS).

"Yesterday we just carried out a survey in Pelem and Randulawang Villages, Randublatung District," he said.

The letter continued, if the survey results found underground water reserves, then in the future it is planned to build deep groundwater wells.

The goal is to maximize water sources for residents. Considering the dry season, many residents need raw water.

"If there is a CAT, BBWS will probably try to build deep groundwater," he said.

Apart from the Randublatung Basin, Surat explained, mitigation was also carried out around the Watuputih Basin, specifically in Jurangjero Village, Bogorejo District. Currently, BBWS Pamali Juwana is in the process of building a deep groundwater well.

"We have made efforts this year to anticipate, to build deep groundwater wells, in Jurangjero, construction is still ongoing, around CAT Watuputih," he explained.

Regarding environmental conservation at both locations and whether or not C excavation around CAT is permitted, according to him, this is the authority of the Ministry of Energy, Resources and Minerals (ESDM). (Endah / IST )
