The investment is more than Rp. 1.5 Trillion, OASA Working on Biomass and Bio-CNG Business Opportunities in Blora

INFOKU, BLORA - PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk (OASA) continues to look for biomass business potential and opportunities, in order to expand its business network.

This time, the Company is looking at the potential for developing biomass-based businesses in the Blora area, Central Java.

From this potential, the Company has even started to develop a plan to develop a Bio-CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) business from agricultural waste that is abundant there, including straw, grain and corn.

In the first stage, the biomass industry capacity in Blora reached 5,000 tons per month, and will continue to be developed to 15,000 tons per month.

"We are aiming for up to 60,000 tons per year in this first stage, and will continue to increase it to reach 180,000 tons per year.

"Not many people know that the Blora area actually has huge potential for agricultural waste," said the Main Director of PT Maharaksa Biru Energi Tbk, Bobby Gafur Umar in a press release, Wednesday (28/11/2023).

Bobby said that the biomass factory that OASA will be working on in this area will produce woodchips which will later be supplied as co-firing material for the Rembang PLTU.

Meanwhile, bio-CNG products are planned to be exported to Japan. This factory will be able to produce 5 MMCFD of bio-LNG per day, built with an investment of around 100 million US dollars or the equivalent of IDR 1.5 trillion (exchange rate of IDR 15,400 per US dollar).

"We are in the process of developing collaboration with USTDA or the US Trade Development Agency. "The target is that the bio-CNG factory in Blora will be ready to operate around the end of 2025," said Bobby.

This additional product from Bio-CNG is high quality organic fertilizer, which will "return" to fertilizing people's agricultural land.

"This will maintain the sustainability of the agricultural system and create a circular economy," continued Bobby.

For Co-riring PLTU, the construction of the factory in Blora is part of OASA's plan to expand its renewable energy business by utilizing biomass products, in order to become a major player in the biomass industry.

Production capacity will be increased gradually, from 500 tons per month to 5,000 tons per month. Early in 2024, a biomass-based factory owned by OASA on the island of Bangka, will be inaugurated.

The location in Air Duren, Bangka Regency, is currently almost complete.

"It's already 85 percent, we hope that production can start in early 2024," said Bobby. (Endah/ IST )
