Three Generations Perform in Commemoration of Wayang Day in Blora


INFOKU, BLORA  – This year World Puppet Day is celebrated lively in Blora Regency.

There are 22 puppeteers from three generations performing alternately at the Blora Regent's Office Pendapa from Thursday (10/11) morning to night.

They seemed to be proof that the generation of puppeteers in Kota Sate still had a bright future.

The puppet show, which is filled with child, young and adult puppeteers, was initiated by the Indonesian Puppeters Association (Pepadi) of Blora Regency in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Culture Tourism Office (Dinporabudpar) of Blora Regency.

The performance is also an effort to preserve Javanese cultural arts.

"This performance is in the framework of the 2022 National Puppet Day and efforts to preserve Javanese cultural arts in Blora Regency.

This performance lasts from morning to early morning  nonstop . There were 22 puppeteers who performed," said Chairman of Pepadi Blora Sukarno.

The appearance of the puppeteer to perform the wayang is carried out in a marathon. Including, child puppeteers featuring Asrep Tri Nova M, Sawung Prabaswara, Cevara Zena Ramdan, Sawung Sulaiman SB, Yudhistiro Wisudho, Faza Aulia Triatmaja, and Slamet Syarifudin.

While the young puppeteers who participated in the performance, Mayricho Kukuh AB, Ilham, Yogi Oktavianto, Edi Pujianto, Catur Ibnu Nabawi, Miftah Jolondot, Surya Aji Anggora, and Ragil Sudarsono.

For adult puppeteers, there are Ki Sampan, Mardini, Seren Harjo S, Sukarjan Gundari, Gondo Yasibin, Supangat, and Hardi Sunartono.

Head of Culture Division of Dinporabudpar Blora Budi Riyanto said this activity aims to preserve Javanese culture and educate children as the next generation. Especially for wayang performances.

“This activity is also expected to entertain the people of Blora. If during the pandemic you rarely enjoy entertainment, including wayang, but this month there is a lot of wayang entertainment," he said.

Meanwhile, Habibi, a cultural activist from the Ngantuk Kuntul Community, said he was happy and proud that wayang performances were being held at a series of Blora Regency Anniversary commemorations.

"As a cultural activist, I really appreciate Dinporabudpar and the regent of Blora who are very cool. Conducting coaching, breeding, also provides broad opportunities for cultural arts activists to appear at the bupati's pendapa.
