There is no obligation for traditional clothes to become school uniforms in Blora

 

INFOKU, BLORA   The Education Office of Blora Regency does not require elementary and middle school students in Blora Regency to wear traditional clothes as school uniforms.

This is because the determination of school uniforms is left to parents and the respective school committees.

This statement was made by the Head of the Blora Regency Education Office, Aunur Rofiq, through the Head of the Basic Education Division, Titik Umiyati.

According to him, the agency is only a distributor of information from the Ministry of Education and Culture to schools in Blora.

“In the ministerial regulation, all uniforms are determined by the parents and the school committee. The agency only provides circulars, carries out socialization from the ministry," he said in a press statement.

As is known, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) issued Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture, Research and Technology Number 50 of 2022 concerning School Uniforms for Students at the Elementary and Secondary Education Levels.

There are three new school uniforms for students at the elementary to high school levels. Namely national uniforms, scouts, and school uniforms for students.

In the regulation, it is stated that the setting of school uniforms aims to instill and foster nationalism, togetherness, and strengthen brotherhood among students.

In addition, uniform arrangements are expected to foster a spirit of unity and unity among students.

The existence of uniforms is also considered to increase equality regardless of the socio-economic background of parents or guardians of students.

It also increases the discipline and responsibility of students.

“The determination of uniforms  is not  left to schools. Schools are not allowed to make uniform procurement. But the uniforms are returned to parents and committees from each school," he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SMPN 5 Blora Tri Handayani admitted that the school she leads continues to use the school's identity batik uniform as in previous years.
