INFOKU, YOGYAKARTA -The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X announced that the Covid-19 variant of the Omicron had entered his province.
The case was found from 83 tourists from outside the city who checked themselves when they were about to leave the city of Yogyakarta.
"The samples were left in the hospital or clinic, from these relics were put into the lab for examination. It turned out that there were 73 positive Omicron," said Sultan during a press conference at the Kepatihan Ward, Yogyakarta City, Thursday (10/2/2022).
With this finding, the Sultan hopes that the community will take the initiative to tighten the implementation of health protocols.
This is because the government cannot control the behavior of everyone who comes to DIY.
Sultan explained, if the provincial government issued a ban on tourists to enter DIY, it would cause turmoil in the community.

"There will be a big upheaval if from outside we want to enter (into DIY) we press we can't enter, it's no longer possible. So the important thing is that we hope that we must be careful because Omicor has entered Yogyakarta just like that," explained the Sultan.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DIY Health Service (Dinkes) Pembajun Setyaningastutie explained that there were 73 samples that were positive for Omicron from 83 samples examined at the UGM laboratory and the Center for Environmental Health Engineering and Disease Control (BBTKLPP).
"In detail, the BBTKLPP examined 36 samples, 34 positive Omicron, one fail or cannot be checked, one probable Omicron. From FK UGM, 39 samples were positive for Omicron and 8 deltas," he said.
Part of the sample was obtained from those who checked independently and travelers.
The DIY Health Office could not specify how many DIY residents were exposed to Omicron.
"Because the incoming data cannot be data by name by address. But what we hope is that with the positive Omicron, DIY residents remain vigilant because there are still deltas," he concluded.(Mughnii/ IST)
