INFOKU, JAKARTA - Indonesia has received a vaccine in three stages at once
namely the 184, 185, and 186 in a total of 9,819,000 doses on Friday, December 31, 2021.
The vaccines come from two different brands, namely Pfizer and Sinovac.
Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate said that in the 184th stage, the vaccine which arrived at 10:00 WIB was Pfizer in the amount of 819,000 doses, which was a donation from COVAX.
Then in the 185th stage, the vaccine that arrived at 13:20 WIB was Sinovac with a total of 6 million doses.
The same vaccine is scheduled to arrive at 22:55 WIB in the amount of 3 million in the 185th stage of arrival.
"The Sinovac vaccine is a direct purchase as an effort to fulfill domestic vaccine needs," Johnny said, Friday (12/31/2021).
The Minister of Communication and Informatics added that this visit will also be the closing of the arrival of the vaccine in 2021.
The total number of vaccines arriving in 2021 is 465,327,165, either in bulk form or raw materials or ready-made vaccines.
Of this total, thanks to the diplomatic efforts of the Government of Indonesia, nearly 100 million doses of vaccine were obtained through donations, either through bilateral or multilateral channels.
"The government continues to try to bring in vaccines through various schemes. Indonesia has managed to save a budget of Rp. 13 trillion for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines because of the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation efforts and the large amount of free vaccine assistance," he said.
Johnny explained that so far, more than 112 million people have been vaccinated with two complete doses.
Especially for health workers, more than 87% have received the third dose as a booster to increase protection.
Currently, he continued, Indonesia has started vaccination for children aged 6-11 years.
Early next year, booster vaccination will also be started for several target groups such as the elderly.
"This achievement is something to be grateful for, it can only happen thanks to the cooperation of all elements of the nation, and of course thanks to the support and participation of the community," he said.
Even though the achievements are relatively good, the Minister of Communication and Information reminded that vaccination efforts should not necessarily slacken.
The government will continue to increase the acceleration and expansion of vaccinations in order to provide more protection to this nation.
"Of course these efforts must be accompanied by public awareness to want to be vaccinated and also invite relatives, friends, and people around to want to be vaccinated," said the Minister of Communication and Information, ( Agung/IST/DARING )
