INFOKU, BLORA –Currently, the threat of crop failure looms over farmers in Blora Regency.
This is caused by the receding and drying of the reservoir water.
So that at least 300 hectares of rice fields in the Blora District area are threatened with failure in the third planting season (MT III) this time.
This condition is exacerbated by the worrying condition of the water storage infrastructure.

From data on around 78 reservoirs spread across Blora Regency, half of them are now in critical condition due to deep silting.
Head of the Water Resources (SDA) Division of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) of Blora Regency, Surat, said that the Gabus Dam is one of the irrigation infrastructures that plays an important role in supporting irrigation of agricultural land in the Blora District area.
"The network stretches from Jetis Subdistrict to Buluroto Village, and the surrounding rice fields are a vital route for farmers," he told the press.

However, entering the dry season and MT III, the water discharge decreased.
As a result, water distribution to agricultural land can no longer be carried out optimally.
"Due to the impact of the drought, in the third season (MT III), irrigation water needs cannot be met and served properly," he explained.
The problem of drought does not only occur in river irrigation networks.
The Blora Public Works and Public Housing Agency (DPUPR) also noted that the condition of dozens of reservoirs in the region requires serious attention.
The letter stated that of the approximately 78 reservoirs in Blora Regency, it is estimated that around 50 percent are in critical condition.
One of the main causes is shallowing due to sedimentation carried by water flow during the rainy season.
"Of the approximately 78 reservoirs spread across various regions, it is estimated that around 50 percent are in critical condition," he said.

According to him, the regional government continues to strive to handle this through coordination with the Pemali Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) and the Bengawan Solo BBWS.
